Simple Tips To Youthful Skin By Exercise
Working on our body is a common goal to all. Some of us aim to lose weight to fit into nicer clothing, others face health concerns and need to protect themselves from diseases. Others build up their body for it to carry them the rest of their lives. All doctors stress on the importance of exercise but cosmetic consultants are also saying that exercise can help you look your best on the outside, along with the inside.
When we exercise continuously, we trigger internal hormones that work towards building up muscle and losing fat storage. However, if we look at the body from the outside, the body would start to shape around the muscles and abs, but your skin also clears up, you can breathe better, your eyes, nose, and mouth become brighter and have more color, among other clear signs.
Plastic surgeon and cosmetic body contouring expert, Dr. Iman Al Haj, said that exercise can increase the longevity of the any cosmetic treatment, making it look and feel better. “Any procedure you do, from filler to Botox to major skin cutting, will look better longer, if you exercise. 30 minutes a day is not much. Make the effort to everlasting beauty, youth, and tight body and skin,” she said.
Many types of work outs allow you to maintain tight and healthy skin, making you look youthful. According to Dr. Al Haj, “work out without a drop of sweat or being sore, is not a work out.” Exercises like heavy cardio, stretching, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, kickboxing, cycling, running, and walking can really help you work up a sweat, as well as tone up your body evenly.
“Do whatever you love. Kickboxing, outdoor bicycle riding, and running on the Doha Corniche is my addiction,” said Dr. Al Haj. Her recommended time frame for working out is 30 minutes. However, working out more can increase your chances of toning your body faster, but can also damage your muscles and ligaments. “If you can afford an instructor to push you to go for more workouts, then do it,” she said. Adding that along with working out, stretching really is the key to ensuring your body is adjusting to the exercise. “All of these would tone your skin preventing sagging, double chin, and will tone your arms and legs,” said the Tadawi Medical Centre consultant.

Sometimes losing weight can cause skin to sag and loosen. There are various exercises to do for specific areas in the body. Here are some of the most popular ones from LiveStrong.com, check these out and let us know in the comments below how they work!
Tighten body after losing weight:
- Neck and Chin
Stand with your arms at your side. Tilt your head back until you are looking directly at the ceiling. Do not strain your neck. Open your mouth and close it, slowly touching your teeth together. Repeat this exercise five to 10 times per day.
- Arms
Simply sit comfortably with your back straight. Hold one dumbbell in each hand, resting them down at your sides. Raise your arms straight out in front of you with your palms facing inward. Slowly lift the dumbbells straight up so they are above your head. Bend your elbows; your hands should be behind your ears. Hold for five to 10 seconds and lower your arms. Do 10 to 12 reps every other day.
- Stomach
Crunch by lying on your back with your knees bent at a 90-degree angle. Interlock your fingers and place them behind your head. Without bending your neck, slowly raise your head and upper back off the floor. Hold for five seconds and return to your starting position. Repeat 10 to 20 times.
- Legs
Excess skin may accumulate on your inner thighs. To address the saggy appearance, lay on your left side with your left leg straight and your right leg bent at a 90-degree angle and in front of your left leg. Prop yourself up on your elbow. Keeping your left leg straight, slowly raise it until you feel a slight pull in your inner thigh. Hold for five seconds and return to your starting position. Repeat 10 times and move to your left leg.
